Stop 1: Kerkouane, the Only Punic Town Left Standing
Kerkouane was abandoned in the 3rd century BC and never built over. That is why its streets, houses and pink terracotta bathtubs are Carthaginian, not Roman. You can even see the sign of Tanit set into a doorstep. The site is small, flat and faces the sea, so an hour is enough. Before it, you pass the Byzantine fort of Kelibia above its beach.
