Stop 1: Dougga, the Best-Kept Roman City in North Africa
Dougga is not a few columns in a field. It is a whole town you can read on the ground: you follow the streets, step into houses and sit in the theatre. The Capitol still has its columns and pediment, and no modern town was ever built on top. Allow 2 h 30 to 3 hours, with some climbing on uneven paving.
